Liturgy Commission
Our most important witness of faith as a Catholic community is to come together in daily and weekly celebrations to hear the Word of God and to partake of the Eucharist. Our parish community is deeply dedicated to liturgies that enrich the life of the individual and of the community. Besides Sunday Eucharist and feast days, this includes the parish mission, devotions, and the recruitment and training of the liturgical ministers.
Training for lectors, altar servers, and users is provided each
fall after the Time and Talent survey has been processed. All
members (with some age limitations) are invited to volunteer
and newcomers who have served in a ministerial role in other
parishes or wish to begin a new ministry at St. James are especially
welcome. To serve in one of these ministries, please contact:
Kris Ivancic at 842-4312.

Music Ministry
Another way to participate in the Liturgy is through our music program. The St. James adult choir is open to anyone who wants to join and there are no auditions. You do not need to read music to participate or have had any previous choral experience. Simply a willingness to sing is required. Contact Music Director, Lynn Weeks at 842-4881 or at choir_st_james_parish@comcast.net.
- Adult Choir: Open to all parishioners 9th grade to adult. Practice is every Wednesday at 7:30pm in the choir loft. No need to call first – just come! The nursery is open during choir practice. The adult choir performs at the 10:30a Mass at St. James during the school year. This choir also performs at other various functions throughout the church year.
- Cantors: Individual who leads the parishioners in song during 4:30p Saturday Mass and 8:00a Sunday Mass at St. James, and 6:30p Saturday Mass at St. Thomas. Many of our choir members are cantors but some may not have time to devote to both. If you don’t have time for the choir, but love to sing, please consider becoming a cantor for our other Masses. You will receive training with the Music Director and experienced cantors.
- Adult and Youth Instrumentalists: There are times during the year when certain instrumentalists are needed to play at liturgies. If you read music, and are proficient on your instrument (not a beginner), please consider being available when needed. Contact Lynn Weeks and let her know what instrument you play.
- Resurrection Choir: This choir provides music for funeral Masses.
- Youth Choir: Children in grades 3rd through 8th are also welcome to participate in our music program. Rehearsal times are announced during Mass and in the bulletin.
- Youth Choir Helpers: Individuals to help Music Director during practices and when choir sings at Mass. (No background in music is needed.)
